มหาวิทยาลัยแม่ฟ้าหลวง (มฟล.) เป็นเจ้าภาพจัดการประชุมวิชาการนานาชาติ THE-ICE 18th IPoE Forum 2025 ระหว่างวันที่ 19-21 ตุลาคม 2568 ณ อาคาร M-Square มหาวิทยาลัยแม่ฟ้าหลวงและโรงแรมเลอ เมอริเดียน เชียงราย รีสอร์ท ซึ่งการประชุมนี้เป็นเวทีสำคัญระดับโลกด้านการศึกษาเกี่ยวกับการท่องเที่ยว การโรงแรม และการจัดงาน โดยมีนักวิชาการ ผู้บริหารสถาบันการศึกษา และผู้ประกอบการชั้นนำจากหลายประเทศเข้าร่วมแลกเปลี่ยนความรู้และประสบการณ์

รองศาสตราจารย์ ดร.ดรุณี วัฒนศิริเวช รองอธิการบดี เป็นประธานเปิดงาน พร้อมด้วยอาจารย์ ดร.ปิยธิดา เพียรลุประสิทธิ์ คณบดีสำนักวิชาการจัดการ โดยได้กล่าวต้อนรับ Dr Craig Thompson, Chief Executive Officer of THE-ICE, Ms Gienke Osinga, Chair of THE-ICE Board of Directors

รองศาสตราจารย์ ดร.ดรุณี กล่าวตอนหนึ่งในพิธีเปิดว่า "ธีมของปีนี้มีความทันสมัยและสร้างแรงบันดาลใจอย่างยิ่ง เราทุกคนเห็นอุตสาหกรรมของเราเปลี่ยนแปลงภายใต้แรงผลักดันของเทคโนโลยี การเปลี่ยนแปลงสภาพภูมิอากาศ และความคาดหวังใหม่ของสังคม การเปลี่ยนแปลงเหล่านี้ท้าทายให้นักการศึกษาและผู้เชี่ยวชาญคิดใหม่ว่าเราจะสอน เรียนรู้ และเป็นผู้นำอย่างไร เพื่อให้มั่นใจว่าคนรุ่นต่อไปมีไม่เพียงทักษะ แต่ยังมีคุณค่าด้านความยั่งยืน ความยืดหยุ่น และความเห็นอกเห็นใจ"

สำหรับประเด็นเด่นของงานคือการถกประเด็น "Asian Hospitality – Is it the Future of Hospitality?" โดยผู้บริหารระดับสูงจากโรงแรมชั้นนำอย่าง Anantara Golden Triangle, Le Meridien Chiang Rai, The Peninsula Bangkok และ Dubai College of Tourism ร่วมวิเคราะห์แนวโน้มการบริการแบบเอเชียที่มีเอกลักษณ์ เน้นความอบอุ่น ใส่ใจในรายละเอียด และการดูแลแบบองค์รวม ซึ่งกำลังได้รับความสนใจจากวงการโรงแรมทั่วโลก

การเสวนาสำคัญเรื่อง "Re-examining the Triple Bottom Line" นำโดยผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิจาก PATA ประเทศไทย, ชญาดล รีสอร์ท, วิทยาลัยดุสิตธานี และ Free University of Bozen-Bolzano อิตาลี เจาะลึกการสร้างสมดุลระหว่างการพัฒนาเศรษฐกิจ ความรับผิดชอบต่อสังคม และการดูแลสิ่งแวดล้อมในอุตสาหกรรมท่องเที่ยวและการโรงแรม

งานยังครอบคลุมประเด็นสำคัญอื่นๆ ได้แก่ "สมรรถนะข้ามวัฒนธรรมในการศึกษาด้านการท่องเที่ยว" โดยผู้แทนจาก TCEB, NIDA, César Ritz Colleges Switzerland และ Stream Events Asia ที่เน้นย้ำความสำคัญของการพัฒนาทักษะข้ามวัฒนธรรมในการศึกษาด้านการท่องเที่ยวและการโรงแรม เพื่อเตรียมความพร้อมให้บัณฑิตสามารถทำงานในบริบทสากลที่หลากหลายได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ

และเสวนา "นวัตกรรมและเทคโนโลยีในการท่องเที่ยว การโรงแรม และการบิน" โดยผู้เชี่ยวชาญจากท่าอากาศยานภูเก็ต, Kempinski Hotels และ NIDA ถกถึงการนำเทคโนโลยีดิจิทัล ปัญญาประดิษฐ์ และนวัตกรรมต่างๆ มาใช้ในการยกระดับประสบการณ์ของผู้ใช้บริการ เพิ่มประสิทธิภาพการดำเนินงาน และสร้างความแตกต่างในการแข่งขัน

นอกจากนี้ยังมีการนำเสนอผลงานวิจัย THE-ICE Research Grant Scheme 2025 ในหัวข้อ "Challenge-Based Learning ในการศึกษาการโรงแรมและการท่องเที่ยว" และ "การบูรณาการ SDGs ในหลักสูตรการท่องเที่ยวและการโรงแรม" โดยนักวิชาการจากออสเตรเลีย ไทย และฟิลิปปินส์

ผู้เข้าร่วมได้สัมผัสวัฒนธรรมล้านนาผ่าน Campus Tour ที่สวนพฤกษศาสตร์ มฟล.และพิพิธภัณฑ์อารยธรรมลุ่มแม่น้ำโขง พร้อมเรียนรู้แนวคิด "ปลูกป่า สร้างคน" ตามพระปณิธานของสมเด็จพระศรีนครินทราบรมราชชนนี ซึ่งสะท้อนวิสัยทัศน์ด้านความยั่งยืนของมหาวิทยาลัย

การจัดงาน THE-ICE IPoE Forum 2025 ครั้งนี้ เป็นโอกาสของนักวิชาการและผู้ประกอบการในการสร้างเครือข่ายความร่วมมือระดับนานาชาติ แลกเปลี่ยนแนวปฏิบัติที่ดี และร่วมกันกำหนดทิศทางการศึกษาด้านการท่องเที่ยวและการโรงแรมให้สอดคล้องกับความเปลี่ยนแปลงของโลก โดยเฉพาะในประเด็นความยั่งยืน การนำเทคโนโลยีมาใช้ และการสร้างมูลค่าเพิ่มผ่านเอกลักษณ์ทางวัฒนธรรม

Mae Fah Luang University (MFU) Hosts THE-ICE IPoE Forum 2025, Highlighting "Asian Hospitality" as the Future of the Hotel Industry
Mae Fah Luang University (MFU) hosted the international academic conference, THE-ICE 18th IPoE Forum 2025, from October 19-21, 2025, at the M-Square Building, Mae Fah Luang University, and Le Méridien Chiang Rai Resort. This conference serves as a crucial global platform for education in tourism, hospitality, and events management, with academics, institutional leaders, and leading entrepreneurs from various countries attending to exchange knowledge and experiences.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Darunee Wattanasiriwech, Vice President, presided over the opening ceremony, alongside Dr.Piyatida Pianluprasidh, Dean of the School of Management. They welcomed Dr. Craig Thompson, Chief Executive Officer of THE-ICE, and Ms. Gienke Osinga, Chair of THE-ICE Board of Directors.
In her opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Darunee stated, "This year's theme is incredibly timely and inspiring. We all see our industry transforming under the pressure of technology, climate change, and new societal expectations. These changes challenge educators and professionals to rethink how we teach, learn, and lead, ensuring that the next generation possesses not only the skills but also the values of sustainability, resilience, and compassion."
A prominent discussion topic at the event was "Asian Hospitality – Is it the Future of Hospitality?" Senior executives from leading hotels such as Anantara Golden Triangle, Le Méridien Chiang Rai, The Peninsula Bangkok, and Dubai College of Tourism analyzed the unique trends in Asian service, emphasizing warmth, attention to detail, and holistic care, which is garnering global attention in the hotel industry.
The important panel discussion on "Re-examining the Triple Bottom Line" was led by experts from PATA Thailand, Chayadol Resort, Dusit Thani College, and the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, Italy. They delved into balancing economic development, social responsibility, and environmental stewardship in the tourism and hospitality sectors.
The forum also covered other significant topics, including "Cross-Cultural Competence in Tourism Education" by representatives from TCEB, NIDA, César Ritz Colleges Switzerland, and Stream Events Asia, which emphasized the importance of developing cross-cultural skills in tourism and hospitality education to prepare graduates for effective work in diverse global contexts.
Furthermore, the panel on "Innovation and Technology in Tourism, Hospitality, and Aviation" featured experts from Phuket International Airport, Kempinski Hotels, and NIDA, discussing the integration of digital technology, artificial intelligence, and various innovations to enhance customer experience, improve operational efficiency, and create a competitive advantage.
Research findings from THE-ICE Research Grant Scheme 2025 were also presented, focusing on "Challenge-Based Learning in Hospitality and Tourism Education" and "Integrating SDGs into Tourism and Hospitality Curricula" by academics from Australia, Thailand, and the Philippines.
Participants experienced Lanna culture through a Campus Tour of the MFU Botanical Garden and the Mekong Basin Civilization Museum, learning about the "Forests and People" concept based on the aspiration of Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra, which reflects the university's vision for sustainability.
Hosting THE-ICE IPoE Forum 2025 provides an opportunity for academics and entrepreneurs to build international networks, exchange best practices, and collaboratively shape the future direction of tourism and hospitality education to align with global changes, particularly concerning sustainability, technology integration, and value creation through cultural uniqueness.
In its role as the host, Mae Fah Luang University demonstrated its readiness to be a central hub for international education and knowledge exchange.
